Film Savo Delivers Its First Productions

In September 2025, North Savo started to build a working incentive model, one that could actually attract domestic and international productions. Less than a year later, two productions are in motion.

Ylä-Savon kerma, an eight-part comedy series for Yle, is now filming in Kiuruvesi and Vieremä. More than half of its shooting days take place in North Savo, with regional costs around 350,000 euros. The series carries international distribution potential under its English title, Creme de la Creme.

Häyhä, a feature film about legendary Finnish marksman Simo Häyhä, will shoot roughly half its production days in North Savo starting in January 2027. The Regional Council of North Savo has granted the production a conditional incentive of 55,969 euros. The film will be released by Nordisk Film in late 2027.

The incentive was built together with the remarkable team from the Regional Council of North Savo and the coordinating company of the project Navitas Kehitys. Pulling the timeline and the results required exceptional team spirit from all of the 19 municipalities in the region.
