Music Boost: Practical Training for Finland's Music Talent

In 2025, Business Oulu commissioned Media Minds to design and run Music Boost, a coaching programme built for musicians and independent artists trying to turn their craft into a sustainable career.

Riku Salomaa opened the programme with a look at how the music industry actually works: rights, revenue streams, and who earns what. Marja Kokko took the marketing sessions, covering how to build an artist brand and use platforms like TikTok and Instagram without wasting a budget on the wrong audience. Juha Ponteva closed with a session on superfans and the many income streams available to independent artists.

Across five sessions, participants worked through their own material: defining their rights, mapping their revenue streams, and building a real promo package they could use immediately after the programme ended.

The feedback backed it up. One participant said the programme would not have stayed as professional, organized, or on schedule without Hanna's lead. Another put it simply: "This was exactly the kind of thing that needed to happen in Oulu."

Music Boost reflects how Media Minds runs coaching: hands-on sessions led by people who do the job for a living. The programme gives Oulu's music talent tools they can use the day after the training ends, not theory to file away.
