Hanna Salonen moderates AI panel at Screen Helsinki 2026

Hanna Salonen moderated a panel on AI as a production tool at Screen Helsinki 2026, bringing together three perspectives on what artificial intelligence actually means for the audiovisual industry right now.

The panelists were Antti Karppinen, internationally awarded photographer and digital artist who was among the first commercial creators in Finland to work with generative AI, now at Supercell; Roosa Tikanoja, production professional and project manager currently leading an AI research and development project at Warner Bros.; and Lila Kallio, media and technology lawyer and advisor at Legal Folks.

Three different angles, one shared question: where does AI actually deliver in production, and where does it not? Karppinen brought the maker's perspective on what produces quality and consistent results. Tikanoja shared what she has learned leading a real AI project inside a production company, including the cases where they tested it and concluded AI was not the answer. Kallio kept the room grounded on what the law currently says and what questions producers are not asking early enough.

The timing was sharp: the EU AI Act's deepfake transparency obligation came into force on 2 August 2026, just weeks before the event, making the legal questions anything but theoretical.
