Five Years of Film in Finland

Film in Finland is the national gateway connecting international productions to Finland: funding, production guides, regional film commissions, and crew resources. Hanna built the platform from within Business Finland as Head of Film in Finland, launching it as a sister brand to Visit Finland, Invest in Finland, and Work in Finland under Paavo Virkkunen and Johanna Jäkälä's vision, with Lotta Hanski leading its marketing. Laura supported the effort as a partner from early on.

Hanna later left to found Media Minds. A few years on, she returned to Film in Finland's work alongside Laura, this time as an external partner rather than from inside Business Finland.

Laura has since specialised in building Finland's international network, taking the lead on sales trips to Los Angeles to put Finland in front of the people who decide where a project gets shot, alongside the familiarisation trips she has organised for decision-makers from Netflix, Sony Pictures, Amazon MGM Studios, HBO, Lionsgate, Marvel Studios, Amblin Entertainment, Story Kitchen, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Lucasfilm, and Fifth Season.

Los Angeles has seen several Film in Finland events over the years. One stood out: a joint Nordic showcase with the Swedish Institute and the Norwegian Film Commission, bringing Finland, Sweden, and Norway together as one region in front of the studios.

Five years of building relationships, one meeting at a time, with the people who choose where the world's productions go.
